About Sixth Form
Our aim is to ensure our students aspire to and achieve excellence in everything they do. Whilst academic achievement is the number one priority, we also want to develop our students as confident individuals and responsible citizens.
We aim to provide individual challenge, but also help everyone to achieve their personal aspirations. This could range from applications Oxbridge and Russell Group universities to modern apprenticeships or employment; from Medicine to Media. It is our role to ensure that the students receive the highest quality teaching, guidance and opportunity in an inclusive Sixth Form which inspires the students to be the best they can be.
Students who choose to join our Sixth Form are expected to have high aspirations and are motivated to succeed. We offer thirty courses which can combine to create a range of personalised offers.
Teaching and learning are of a high quality and the students are taught very well by inspiring teachers. We are proud of our improving exam performance at both AS and A level. These are a direct result of our attitude which is “we simply do not accept failure”.
All students are encouraged to contribute to the wider-life of the Sixth Form by becoming involved in community enrichment activities, charity events, fund-raising activities, and the House System. We expect them to act as role-models to the younger pupils by offering them positions of responsibility and leadership. These experiences provide them with a wealth of opportunities, enhances their CV, and increases their chances of obtaining a place at university or employment in the long term.
We aim to be outstanding in all that we do and believe the happier the students are, the better they will perform in their examinations. Churchdown Sixth Form is a wonderful place to be and the students and staff are a fantastic group of people to work with.
